You don’t have to spend a lot of money to enjoy art! Prints can be just as beautiful as original art. We are slowly working on a room makeover for my 10 year old, Reese. This girl loves art almost as much as I do, so when I asked her if she would like an art wall above her bed to showcase some of her art and some prints she selected, she got so excited! Unfortunately, I don’t have a great before picture of this wall in her room. This cute pic of her on the first day of school this year will have to do!

Reese had three watercolors she wanted to frame as our starting place. We then spent several nights scrolling on my laptop together and she ended up finding 5 prints she loved. I looked at the frames I already had and we ordered print sizes accordingly. I also purchased two slim profile frames and a small square frame because I wanted to make sure that we used a variety of sizes. While I waited for everything to come in, I spray painted two of the five frames I was using matte black. I knew that I wanted to use a combination of black and gold.
Once all of the prints were in, I placed them in the frames and we laid them out on her floor until we were happy with the arrangement. After hours going through prints together, it became clear that she loves abstracts that look like ink blots and paintings and photographs that involve water. This is where we ended up!

I started hanging from the corner and worked my way to the left because Reese asked if we could continue hanging a few more pieces down the road. This leaves room to the left and will also allow us to wrap the gallery wall around the corner. I called her in when I finished and she was so excited! We both stepped back and admired the change this brought to her space.
Because five of the frames were ones I already had, this project ended up being pretty inexpensive. However, it was totally worth the impact it had on her space. She is so pleased with herself for what she picked, which makes my heart so happy that I had her take the lead on this one. Just waiting on the arrival of her new bed and bedding!
